CALGARY (AB) – Former World #4 Tennis Player and Japanese Tennis Star Kei Nishikori has withdrawn from the upcoming Calgary National Bank Challenger due to an injury setback he sustained in practice. The Calgary National Bank Challenger will take place November 6 to 13, 2022, while the Drummondville National Bank Challenger will take place a week later November 13 to 20, 2022.
“Earlier today, we were advised by Kei’s agent, Olivier van Lindonk from IMG, that he sustained an injury which required him to withdraw from our events. While we had hoped to have Kei with us in Calgary and Drummondville, we understand that he is coming back from a serious and complicated medical procedure, and it is best for him to take his doctor’s medical orders at this time. We look forward to seeing return to the ATP Tour soon”, said Danny Da Costa and Alain Caille, Tournament Directors for the Calgary & Drummondville National Bank Challenger events.
Nishikori sustained his latest injury practicing in preparation for the Calgary & Drummondville National Bank Challenger Events. He is attempting to come back from Hip Surgery and has not played on the ATP Tour since the fall of 2021.
