Day 2 – The King Moves On!

Day 2 was another huge day at the 2020 Calgary National Bank Challenger. Dubbed “Kids Day”, presented by the OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre, students from around Calgary came to take in some of the daytime matches. What an exciting way to spend fourth period!

The day got off to an exciting start with Calgary’s own Cleeve Harper taking to the court – his first ATP Challenger! Cheered on my his friends and family, Harper put up an amazing effort against Argentinian Mattias Descotte but failed to advance into the next round. Descotte defeated Harper 67(5) 76(3) 64.

The evening session kicked off with 2018 Calgary National Bank Challenger Ivo Karlovic starting the campaign to defend his title. The Croatian took on Evan King from the USA. In an exciting match with Karlovic’s signature huge serve, the Champ defeated King 76(2) 64. The final match of the day was Canadian Filip Peliwo vs. German athlete, Tobias Kamke. Kamke knocked the Canadian out 64 60.

The evening session on Day 3 will be a massive fan draw with Canadian tennis star Vasek Pospisil taking on Polish player Kacper Zuk at 6:30pm. Following that match, Australian Blake Mott will step on the court to play his second round match against Canadian Brayden Schnur.
